This week took place in Pisa (Italy) the annual meeting of the FINDHR project – Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation Horizon Europe project.

Florida Di Ciommo, director of cambiaMO, attended as part of the project advisory board to share experiences and previous research results (e.g. INDIMO, SPINE) on gender equality and diversity to the ongoing work within FINDHR.

FINDHR is an interdisciplinary project that seeks to prevent, detect, and mitigate discrimination in algorithmic hiring – the usage of tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) for finding and selecting job candidates. This research will also show how to manage discrimination risks in a broad class of applications involving human recommendation.

The project will run from November 2022 until October 2025 to produce new technical guidance to perform impact assessment and algorithmic auditing, a protocol for equality monitoring, and a guide for fairness-aware AI software development. It will also design and deliver specialized skills training for developers and auditors of AI systems.

Introducing operationalized intersectionality into algorithmic hiring would enhance transparency and accountability, while also providing an opportunity to empower people to mitigate diversity biases in the labor market, in the face of a revolution that impacts their current and future job prospects.

At present, the project is actively conducting a Data Donation Campaign, and you can contribute to promoting fair hiring practices by sharing your CV on the website www.findhr.eu/datadonation.
