The past 8th and 9th of June took place the annual Dialogue on Action for Climate Empowerment, at the SB58 within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conferences in Bonn.
The ACE provides a regular forum for Parties and other stakeholders to share their experiences, exchange ideas, good practices, and lessons learned regarding the implementation of Article 6 of the Convention and Article 12 of the Paris Agreement through its six elements – climate change training and education, public participation and awareness, access to information and international cooperation on these matters.
The 2023 ACE Dialogue discussed the priority area of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting ACE implementation, keeping in mind its linkages with other 3 priority areas under the Glasgow work program (e.g. Policy coherence, Coordinated action, and Tools and support). The Dialogue also included an interactive workshop to discuss ways of assessing the effectiveness of ACE implementation.
Floridea Di Ciommo, on behalf of the Women and Gender Constituency, facilitated one of the breakout groups. The aim was to identify factors needed for evaluating the ACE activities to effectively promote climate change training and education, public participation and awareness, and access to the information, thereby empowering individuals and communities to take action on climate change.
