TRAVELWELL | Wellbeing, mobility and urban space

Membership of the research team

The research project combines the fields of mobility and psychology. Travelwell’s objective is to analyse how the different modes of transport influence our well-being, with special emphasis on new mobility solutions (scooters and shared car and cycle services). In addition, to understand how the different elements of urban design influence the well-being and behaviour of pedestrians, cyclists and electric scooter users.

Floridea Di Ciommo, current co-director of cambiaMO, is part of the project’s research team for her pioneering studies in using hybrid models and including psychological constructs and social aspects in the analysis of travel behaviour. Her studies on psychological well-being and travel behaviour, especially focused at gender issues are key to the development of the project. The wellbeing is also investigated on how (new) mobility systems allow conciliation between work and caring lives, i.e. on their ability to share more time with people you live and get along with or to better perform caring tasks and duties.
