Gender equality is a fundamental human right yet far from being achieved. International and local organizations have used events such as COP27 to highlight how enhancing women´s economy and educating and engaging men in these processes are critical for both mitigation and adaptation efforts.
The objective of this study is to enhance the contribution of EIB investments in the mobility and urban development sector to gender equality and women`s economic empowerment. The specific objectives are:
- undertaking a gender market analysis and gender impact assessments related to specific EIB investments outside the EU in the mobility and urban development areas,
- Providing guidance to the EIB on how to deliberately integrate gender analysis into investment and decision-making in the mobility and urban development sectors to promote gender equality and the economic empowerment of women
The expected results of this project are: generating higher social and economic returns, understanding better the potential gender-based risks and sensitivities of EIB investments, thus improving contribution to, and protection of human rights.
More expected results within the project framework include reduced inequalities, discrimination and violence faced by women, increased empowerment, financial independence, and participation in the labor force and in governance. All this will enable a more inclusive and sustainable economic and social development
Floridea will serve as the senior expert on the project and will be responsible for guiding and coordinating the tasks related to gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and strategy development in the urban and mobility sectors for the project. She will also be the main point of contact for engaging with Spanish stakeholders throughout the project.
